April 2025 – Power of Pet Therapy at MMI!
Pet therapy can be a significant part of dementia care. For individuals living with memory loss, the presence of a calm, friendly dog can offer comfort, spark memories, and even ease feelings of anxiety or confusion. These visits often create quiet moments of connection—sometimes with smiles, sometimes with tears, and often with a gentle hand resting on soft fur. While therapy dogs aren’t a medical treatment, they can bring real emotional support, helping people feel more grounded and less alone. It’s amazing how something as simple as a wagging tail can open the door to joy, conversation, or even a long-forgotten story. That’s the quiet power of pet therapy—and why we believe it matters so much in dementia care. At MMI, we have had a bit of fun with our Pet Therapy Dogs, Rose, Mabel and Ollie and have created a monthly ‘dog blog’ from the eyes of our furry friends.
