What are Direct Payments?

If you or someone you care for needs social services help, you can apply for Direct Payments. These allow you to receive money to go towards the specific support required. For example, employing a Personal Assistant to help with tasks and socialisation or having a Care Agency to assist with personal care, meals, or medication calls. Managing the Direct Payment may seem daunting, but this is where MMI can support you via our ‘Suitable Person Service’!

How is the ‘Suitable Person Service’ Involved?

The Suitable Person Service can assist those who want to receive a Direct Payment but cannot do so because they lack someone to manage it. Our service acts for people receiving a Direct Payment, employing Personal Assistants(s) to meet your care and support plan.

The Personal Assistant(s) can help with various things, such as attending community activities, food shopping, visiting someone, or just general socialisation. Sometimes, our PAs may also be trained to prompt/administer medication and support personal care needs.

Our service ensures all PAs are suited to the client and have relevant training. We also manage payroll and deal with employment situations.

If you’re interested in or need our service, please ask your local authority, and they will look into arranging an assessment if appropriate.

If you want to become a Personal Assistant, please see our current vacancies below. To apply, email us an up-to-date CV and reference the vacancy.
